Better Place is a highly experienced Portuguese company in architecture and interior builds and has been active in the market since 2011.

Our track record in business spaces, particularly in the office segment, speaks for itself.

Focusing on efficient space occupancy Better Place submits creative solutions to meet its customers’ requirements and expectations, based on quotations and previously agreed timings.

Our team at Better Place also provides space maintenance project services to companies requiring medium term oversight.

Managing Partner

Jorge Bota

Jorge embarked upon his professional career in construction, before working in the real estate industry. He returned to the construction sector in 2007 with his creation of Building Consultancy & Services at DTZ. In 2007 he also founded Better Place, which specialises in interior design and civil construction projects. His leadership of a large number of “design & build” projects has helped to achieve the best space solutions for such companies as Novabase, Outscope, Oracle, Pfizer, BP, BMW, Ericson, Bank of Tokyo, Novartis, Apple, Boston Consulting Group, Amgen, Tyco, Nokia, Panalpina, PPD, Bristol Myers Squibb, Axians, Claranet and Checkmarx.

He is also a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).

 

His source of inspiration: To create new projects.

Head of Design

Cláudia Costa

Claudia has a masters degree in Architecture and Interior Design from the University of Salamanca and a degree in Interior Design from IADE. She embarked upon her career as an interior designer and lecturer at the above faculty over twenty years ago. Having specialised in the office segment in 2002, she has developed a large number of business space projects of which special reference should be made, inter alia, to Whitestar, Groupe SEB, Acústica Médica, Tyco, Apple, Bristol-Myers Squibb, BitSight, Claranet, Axians and Novabase.

 

Her source of inspiration: Family, friends and travel.

Head of Build

João Fonseca

João has an engineering degree from Instituto Superior Técnico with a specialisation in “Health and Safety in the Workplace”. He has worked in the field of coordination and project management in several companies in Portugal and Angola. His professional career path includes the management of construction and building rehabilitation projects, sewage networks, roads and other specialised engineering works. He is also experienced in project management in systems analysis and IT systems.

João is an acting member of the Portuguese Order of Engineers (no. 59721).

 

His source of inspiration: The challenge of lifelong learning and his children’s smiling faces.

Architect

Sara Santos

Sara has a degree in Architecture and was an Erasmus student at the University of Florence. She also has a masters degree in Architecture and Sustainability. Having worked in several architectural practices she has also been involved in international projects in Rio de Janeiro and London.

As well as being an interior architect she is also a furniture designer both in the technical and production fields.

 

Her source of inspiration: A phrase used by Pablo Picasso: “Inspiration exists but can only be achieved through work.”

Project Manager

Nicole Cardoso

Nicole has an integrated masters degree in Civil Engineering, in the construction area from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and has worked in the materials department (concrete, stone and ceramics section) of Portugal’s National Civil Engineering Laboratory. She has participated in several heritage conservation congresses in addition to studies on several building rehabilitation-related projects.

 

Her source of inspiration: To overcome obstacles, in addition to defending animal rights and to be in contact with nature.

Project Manager

Rodrigo Belo

Rodrigo has an integrated masters degree in Civil Engineering (specialising in Geotechnics) from Instituto Superior Técnico. He has worked at Norfin where he was, inter alia, a senior analyst in asset management for urban rehabilitation projects.

 

Source of inspiration: His hobbies which include design and photography.

Quantity Surveyor

Guilherme Ribeiro

Guilherme is accredited by CENFIC (Centro de Formação da Indústria da Construção Civil e Obras Públicas do Sul), and has worked in several companies as a quantity surveyor responsible for the logistical planning and preparation of works.

 

His source of inspiration: Family.

Office Manager

Cristina Alves

Cristina started her professional career at Kodak Portuguesa, in which she managed several work teams over a period of 22 years in addition to having worked with Madeira House.

 

Her source of inspiration: The Readers’ Club which she founded two years ago, swimming and photography.
